Conference (Simultaneous) Interpreting
With South Africa playing an increasingly active role in the affairs of international community, more and more international conferences are taking place in the country. In these conferences, language is often a barrier to effective communication and this is where we come in.
Our conference interpreters provide simultaneous interpreting at various international conferences such as the BRICS and Mining Indaba. Due to its highly demanding nature, a conference will usually require at least two interpreters working side-by-side in a sound-proof booth, alternating workload every 20 to 30 minutes. They listen to the speaker’s speech in source language through earphones while speaking into a microphone in target language. Interpreters will deliver better results if they are briefed on the subject matter of conference beforehand. For this reason, we will always work closely with conference organisers to ensure our interpreters have adequate conference materials to prepare themselves prior to the conference. Furthermore, we observe the Code of Professional Ethics of AIIC (The International Association of Conference Interpreters) in every project we take on, to ensure we deliver the expected quality of work.
For conferences, we can also provide Japanese simultaneous interpreters, Portuguese simultaneous interpreters, Russian simultaneous interpreters and Spanish simultaneous interpreters.
